Seth Boro is a Managing Partner at Thoma Bravo. Based in San Francisco, he joined the firm in 2005, then became a Partner in 2010 and a Managing Partner in 2013. Seth leads the firm’s infrastructure software and cybersecurity strategy, and he is responsible for finding and executing new deals, growing portfolio companies as an active board member, and helping to manage the firm. He previously was part of the investment team at Summit Partners, where he was involved in private equity investments in the technology and business services sectors. Seth also worked as an analyst with investment bank Credit Suisse in Toronto. He has been featured in Mergers & Acquisitions Magazine as one of the “Rising Stars” of private equity and was named by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the region’s “40 Under 40” for his business leadership contributions in building the Bay Area’s future. Seth earned his MBA from Stanford University and his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University School of Business.

Scott Crabill is a Managing Partner at Thoma Bravo. Based in San Francisco, he joined the firm in 2002 to help develop its investment strategy in the software industry. Scott is responsible for identifying and executing new deals, working closely with portfolio companies as an active board member, and helping to manage the firm. He was previously part of the investment team at Summit Partners, where he was involved in private equity investments in software and other technology businesses. Scott also worked as an investment professional at private equity firm J.H. Whitney and in corporate finance at Alex. Brown & Sons. Additionally, he is a board member of the CPMC Foundation, which is the capital raising arm of Sutter Health hospital in San Francisco. Scott earned a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Hudson Smith is a Partner at Thoma Bravo. Based in San Francisco, he joined the firm in 2016. Hudson is responsible for finding and executing new deals and monitoring and growing the portfolio as an active board member for the firm’s Discover funds, which focus on investing in mid-sized software and technology companies. Prior to joining Thoma Bravo, he served as Managing Director of HGGC, where he led software and technology investments. Previously, he worked at Bain & Company in Dallas and Sidney and Lincoln International in Chicago. Hudson earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS degree in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Washington and Lee University.

Carl D. Thoma is a Founder and Managing Partner at Thoma Bravo. He was a Co-Founder and Managing Director at Golder, Thoma, Cressey, Rauner and its predecessor funds since 1980. He began his career at First Chicago Equity Group where he helped build one of the largest and most active private equity firms in the country. He is a recognized pioneer of the buy-and-build strategy that is the foundation of Thoma Bravo's strategy today.
Carl is an avid art collector, which he parallels to the process of acquiring, partnering with, and refining a company. Carl received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS degree in Accounting and Agriculture Economics from Oklahoma State University.
He is currently on the boards of the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts, SITE Santa Fe, the Terra Foundation for American Art, and is a commissioner for the National Portrait Gallery. Together with his wife Marilynn, Carl runs the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation, a grant-making organization dedicated to sharing its collection and supporting museums, projects and individuals pursuing innovative ideas in the visual arts: www.thomafoundation.org.

Chip Virnig is a Partner at Thoma Bravo. Based in San Francisco, he joined the firm in 2008, and he has been instrumental in growing the firm's infrastructure and cybersecurity practices. Previously he worked in investment banking at Merrill Lynch & Co. Chip graduated with a BA degree with dual majors in Business Economics and in Commerce Organizations and Entrepreneurship from Brown University.
