Thought. Leadership.

Innovations, investments, strategies and opportunities introduced at the speed of business.

San Francisco — November 2, 2015Thoma Bravo, a leading private equity investment firm, has completed the sale of Sirius Computer Solutions Inc., a leading national IT solutions integrator founded in 1980, to Kelso & Company.

The exit represents the culmination of a long and successful partnership between Thoma Bravo and Sirius Computer Solutions. A 2006 equity investment from Thoma Bravo allowed Sirius to invest in a growth strategy that increased gross revenues from just over $600 million annually in 2006 to an expected $1.7 billion in 2015.

“When we began our partnership with the Sirius executive team, our goal was to provide the resources and strategic insight to realize the growth potential of the successful model they had in place,” said Orlando Bravo, a managing partner at Thoma Bravo. “The growth that Sirius has undergone during our relationship serves as both a testament to the company’s market positioning and management team, as well as Thoma Bravo’s strategy of building market-leading companies through operational insight and selective, strategic add-on acquisitions.”

“Through Thoma Bravo’s support, Sirius has been able to invest in the technical skills, sales expertise, processes and tools that meet our clients’ diverse needs,” added Joe Mertens, President and CEO of Sirius. “This emphasis on effectively delivering our innovative solutions has established Sirius as an industry-leading technology solutions integrator, making the company well positioned to continue its trajectory through the next stage of growth with Kelso.”

“We worked hard alongside management to increase the breadth of solutions and services that Sirius offers its clients, adding capabilities to the company’s portfolio both organically and inorganically,” said Holden Spaht, a managing partner at Thoma Bravo. “Through our collaboration, the company was able to make six acquisitions, nearly triple its profitability, more than triple its workforce and ultimately secure a new partner to help continue its momentum.”

As part of this transition, Harvey Najim, founder and Executive Chairman of Sirius, will be retiring. Najim will continue to support charitable organizations throughout the San Antonio area as he has done throughout his career and is currently doing through the Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation.

“Nine years ago when I met Orlando, Holden and the Thoma Bravo team, I knew that I wanted to partner with them,” said Najim. “With their support, we were able to grow Sirius to new heights, and I was able to launch and grow my family foundation and its support of the community. And for that, I am extremely grateful for our partnership.”
