Senior Partner
A.J. Rohde is a Senior Partner at Thoma Bravo. Since joining in 2010, he has been instrumental in expanding the firm's investment platforms and global reach. A.J. played a pivotal role in founding and currently leads Thoma Bravo's Discover platform, which focuses on middle-market software and technology companies. He was also instrumental in founding and currently oversees the firm's Europe platform. He serves on the investment committees for all actively investing Thoma Bravo funds, and currently sits on the boards of Command Alkon, CompTIA, Delinea, Eptura, HCSS, Majesco, Mercell, MeridianLink, Motus, Nearmap, NextGen Healthcare and UserTesting. Prior Flagship and Discover investments for which he served as the deal lead and/or had an active role include Bomgar, Centrify, Continuum, Deltek, Digital Insight, Elemica, Idaptive, iPipeline, PowerPlan, Roadnet, Solifi, Syntellis, Telestream, TravelClick and T2 Systems.
Beyond his professional endeavors, A.J. is passionate about community building through philanthropy. A.J. and his wife, Melissa, created the Rohde Family Foundation, which seeks to create opportunities for children and families in need. He also serves on the Board of Directors, was formerly Treasurer, and is currently Capital Campaign Co-Chair of the MarinHealth Foundation. In addition, A.J. is a member of the Booth Polsky Private Equity Council at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and is on the Advisory Committee for Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana. He also currently sits on the Campaign Committee for Villanova Athletics and the Finance & Governance Committee for the United States Padel Association, and is on the board of Park Padel and an advisor to Taktika Padel.
A.J. holds a BA in Economics from Villanova University, where he was captain of the Division I tennis team, and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He began his career at Ford Motor Company in Irvine, California. Prior to joining Thoma Bravo, he worked at Saban Capital Group and Jefferies & Company, focusing on investment banking in the media and technology sectors.
A.J. is a recognized voice in private equity and enterprise software investing. He has been featured in various media outlets and provides expertise and insights at global industry events, including the Milken Institute Global Conference, as well as on Thoma Bravo's award-winning Behind the Deal podcast.
