Joel Martins is an operating advisor at Thoma Bravo. He has more than 20 years of experience driving innovation, growth and operational excellence in software companies. Joel led global enterprise teams for 14 years at Symantec. At Symantec, he led teams in the enterprise data protection suite, growing the NetBackup product line to over $1B. Joel also served as CTO at MicroEdge, which was sold to publicly traded Blackbuad (Nasdaq: BLKB in 2014). Before joining Thoma Bravo, Joel served as CTO at Social Solutions, completing a transaction from Vista Equity Partners to Apax Partners. During his time at Social Solutions, Joel oversaw the creation and launch of a new product line and dramatic growth. He also recruited the Ballmer Group, which included a $59M investment in Social Solutions from former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who joined the company's Board of Directors. Joel graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS degree in Computer Science and attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul post-graduate.
